Chalice corals come in a variety of collectible, vibrant color variations. They are often sought after by advance aquarists not only for their intense color but also for the challenging needs of excellent water quality. "Convict" chalices share a common striation on the the tissue but vary greatly in color and vibrance. This exclusive features the look of a globe with it's expansive oceans and continents.

Chalices are aggressive corals known for their long sweeping tentacles that extend at night and have a potent sting towards food and other surrounding corals. They can grow in an encrusting formation when placed on horizontal surfaces and can also grow in an extended plating manner when placed near edges of structures with stronger flow. Chalices have oral discs within a raised corallite that are formed overtime known as "eyes". Like many corals, these are points that define an individual amongst a colony.

Most chalices can adapt to a variety of conditions to lighting and flow but do best with moderate to strong lighting and moderate to strong flow. Well balanced and stable water conditions will exhibit the best color and growth.
