Bubble tip anemones are named for their shorter, bulbous shaped tentacles. Anemones can change size and shape by absorbing water which allow them to expand so they can catch prey with their aggressive sting. The rainbow variant is decorated in a wide array of colors about its oral disc and tentacles.

In addition to its color, anemones have amazing movement in low to medium flow areas and will usually expand in the day and retract at night. An excellent addition for the experienced aquarist, the anemone requires plenty of room, strong light, medium flow and solid water parameters. Select target feeding isn't required but periodic meaty feedings will encourage it's bubble shape, growth and coloration.

Anemones are able to move about slowly with the aid of a foot on the base of their column shaped body. They will move about the aquarium until they find a space with good flow, strong light and many times, a place to retract amongst rock. By absorbing greater amounts of water, they are able expand and release their footing to float along with currents and move about at a faster rate.

For this reason, it's important to note that they should be placed in a seasoned aquarium before other expensive and delicate corals are added as they can move and string them. Even anemones that have been situated for years have been known to move about as they reproduce by fission. Care should be taken with powerheads to avoid being pulled in and chopped up about the aquarium.
